The game plan was simple — shoot back-to-back commercials with Daniel Jacobsen and Trey Kaufman-Renn. We knew we only had them that morning for a little time each and the whole thing had to wrap before we opened for business. Easy, right?

Not quite. As each script concept grew in creativity and scope, we quickly bumped up against the limit of how many set-ups, tear-downs, and takes were possible in the limited time frame. Even with a dedicated four person camera crew and organized approach, everyone had their work cut out for them.

It was a tall order — luckily DJ and TKR are pretty familiar with being tall and are no strangers to operating under pressure. In the last minutes before open, we had everything we needed, except for Trey’s last line. With the whole video resting on his delivery, it was now or never. First take? Like an unguarded layup.
