Evansville, IN, August 11th, 2025 – Azzip (AY-ZIP) Pizza has returned to West Lafayette where the idea for Azzip began. Founder Brad Niemeier created and pitched the concept for Azzip in 2012 on the way to winning a business plan competition idea when he was a student at Purdue University. After school, he returned to his hometown of Evansville and teamed up with long-time friend and professional chef Blake Kollker to open the first restaurant in 2014.
Since then, Azzip has been awarded the “Best New Restaurant” by Evansville Living Magazine and Brad has been recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Southwest Indiana Chamber for his innovative approach to serving pizza and the fast growth of his business. Nationally, Azzip has been honored as a top 100 national fast-casual “Mover and Shaker” by Fast Casual magazine and was named Pizza Marketplace’s #1 Menu Innovator.
“After 7 great years in Lafayette, the time is right to open a second store in the Greater Lafayette community and Azzip’s twelfth location overall.” says Co-CEO Andy Niemeier. “This means more personal pizzas created just for you, more opportunities to support local non-profits, and more chances to cheer the Boilermakers on in person.”
“It’s great to be back in West Lafayette where this all started!” says founder Brad Niemeier. “Every visit up here brings back memories of my time at Purdue, football practice, and practicing my pizza making skills at my house on Stadium Avenue.”
